Containing the verses of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Mary Lamb, Allan Cunningham, Elizabeth Barratt Browning, William Wordsworth, Thomas Hood, Robert Southey and William Cowper amongst countless others.Edited by John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1891), an American Quaker poet often cited as being one of the fireside poets. As an abolitionist, a number of his works were anti-slavery, and include the long narrative poem Snow-Bound, which was extremely popular at its publication in 1866.Illustrated throughout. A new edition of this work. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally a trifle worn, with some bumping to the extremities and spine, a few marks to the front board and two small perforations to the front board. Spine is a little faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with just the odd spot. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
