Hardcover, variant blue cloth lettered in gold with image of ship, boy and girl on front board, stamped in gold, no priority established [also issued in brown/olive cloth]. 148 pages. All edges gilt. Introduction by Percy Fitzgerald. Containing tales re-told by Dickens granddaughter and others. 12 inserted chromolithographed plates, and monochrome drawings by Harold Copping. First issued in 1911 in a limited edition of 500 copies, for the benefit of Dickens five grand-daughters, this appears to be the trade edition. A scarce title of a wonderfully illustrated work in exceptional condition. No previous ownership marks. A very clean, square, unmarked copy, Mild wear to tips and spine ends. A very good+ copy. Not in Podeschi.. First Edition Thus. Cloth. Very Good+/Not Issued. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
