Sobre este artículo

New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers, 1853. Starting in 1851, the history was originally serialized in "Household Words" in 45 chapters, then reduced to 37 for hardcover publication. A scarce title in the American issue. Two volumes, bound in red cloth with decorative stamping on both covers; titling in gilt on the spine. This is the First American Edition, in a mixed state. Volume One is xi, 288 pages; dated 1853 with Harper's addreess on Pearl Street. Volume Two is viii, 307 pages; dated 1854, with Harper's address on Beekman Street. Quercus presumes that Volume Two is the second issue. Very Good condition. Clean texts; with some occasional spotting, but bright and clear. Covers are bumped to a slight fray. Head and foot of the spines are rubbed. The spine of Volume Two is somewhat faded; The gilt remains bright. Solid copies.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Sinopsis

IF you look at a Map of the World, you will see, in the left-hand upper corner of the Eastern Hemisphere, two Islands lying in the sea. They are England and Scotland, and Ireland. England and Scotland form the greater part of these Islands. Ireland is the next in size. The little neighbouring islands, which are so small upon the Map as to be mere dots, are chiefly little bits of Scotland, - broken off, I dare say, in the course of a great length of time, by the power of the restless water.
