CHILDWOLD by Joyce Carol Oates, with signature of the poet Joan Joffee Hall on front cover, advance uncorrected proof, Vanguard, 1976, mustard softcover/paper wraps, 5" wide x 10-3/4" high, 226 pages, copied handwritten page numbers at bottom of pages and a few copied minor handwritten edits in text), advance uncorrected proofs slip addressed "To the Literary Editor" taped in inside front cover, Joan Joffe Hall (d. 2013), "Dr. Hall was the first woman hired for a tenure-track position in the English Dept. of the University of Connecticut, in 1963. She helped found the women's studies program at UConn, as well as the creative writing and film study programs. A tireless advocate of women's rights and gender equity, she was also a gifted poet." (from an online obituary); CONDITION: very good-plus or better condition, touches of wear at front corners, some light discoloration on back cover, rough spot near bottom of spine, overall well-preserved copy with tight binding and text.
