Chinese porcelains dating between the end of the 18th and the early 20th centuries had traditionally been dismissed as unworthy of serious interest, until the present author's monograph on the period. Van Oort particularly draws attention to early 20th century products of the Hung Hsien reign (ca 1916), many of which are of remarkably high quality and creativity, and which have become, since the publication of this volume, highly sought-after collectibles.
