First edition of 2000 copies preceding Heinemann's London edition. Pencilled word to p. 225 and p. 171. Board edges rubbed, spine ends softened. Mesh visible p. 176, front hinge a bit tender. Pages holding well. The DJ in mylar has sunned spine, a few splash water marks to front panel, trace edgewear. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
Sinopsis
W. Somerset Maugham was born in Paris in 1874. He trained as a doctor in London where he started writing his first novels. In 1926 he bought a house in Cap Ferrat, France, which was to become a meeting place for a number of writers, artists and politicians. He died in 1965.
