London: Heinemann, 1922. First Edition. Hard Cover. First UK Edition. Publisher's original black cloth with gilt titling and design to the front board and the spine. Publisher's device blind-stamped to the back board. A couple of bumps to the boards otherwise a lovely, bright and clean near fine copy. No D/W although it is certainly nice enough to take one. Provenance: bookplate (grey background with white lettering) of Walter C Raithel, Jr. A travel book. Photographs/scans available upon request.
Sinopsis
W. Somerset Maugham was born in Paris in 1874. He trained as a doctor in London where he started writing his first novels. In 1926 he bought a house in Cap Ferrat, France, which was to become a meeting place for a number of writers, artists and politicians. He died in 1965.
