The first edition of this post-humously discovered work by the Scottish novelist, poet, essayist, and travel writer Robert Louis Stevenson. 'On the Choice of a Profession' was unpublished in Stevenson's lifetime, and was first published in 'Scribner's Magazine' in 1915. This copy was the first time the essay was issued in book form. Complete with the uncommon original dustwrapper. In a quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards, complete with unclipped dustwrapper in protective Brodart wraps. Externally, smart, some slight rubbing to cloth and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright with light spotting to first and last few pages. Dustwrapper very smart with minor marking, discolouration and chipping. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
