Sobre este artículo
Albany: J. Munsell for E. H. Pease. Very Good-. 1838. First Edition. Hardcover. Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 180 pages; 1838 J. Munsell, printer, for E. H. Pease, Albany. 1st edition. Three volumes bound as one, as usually found. [Bound With] "The European Stranger in America" 84pp New York, 1839 [And] "the Family Physician and Farmer's Companion" 24pp [NP/ND]. Soundly bound in original trade cloth binding of ribbed brown cloth with decorative borders in blind and titles brightly in gilt to spine. Notable though is the presence of 3 stab holes in the first and third of the books along with the thin remanant of green paper in the gutter of the title page- what appears to be evidence of an intial binding in wraps. The remaining unsold copies of Eyre's 1st book (in wraps) were likely called back to be bound together with Part 2 of his journey, published in 1839. The presence of stab holes in the "Family Physician" likewise suggest these 2 works were intially bound together. Cloth lightly pulled and rubbed at spine ends; corners lightly bumped. Foxing and spotting sporadically throughout; a shallow light damp line across the top edge of some of the pages in the middle of the volume. Uncommon narrative of an early English immigrant to America. VG- thus .
