* A Christmas Carol
* The Chimes
* The Cricket on the Hearth
* The Battle of Life
* The Haunted Man
* Pictures from Italy
(the first five stories are from "Christmas Stories")
Condition:
Clean front cover and spine; some spotting along the left edge of the back cover; the top and bottom edges of the spine are worn; cloth tears at the corners. Very nice interior - the pages are mostly clean with only an occasional light foxing spot; no writing found; a small piece of the bottom-right corner of page 11 has torn off. The front pastedown and end paper each have "Duxbury Library" label affixed...no other library markings found. Overall the book is in very good condition.
Sinopsis
The full title of Charles Dickens' most famous work is technically A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a Ghost-Story of Christmas. This novella was published on December 19, 1843, and the first edition run of 6000 copies were sold out by Christmas Eve of that year. The publication of the first edition was fraught with complications, and even though the book was received to positive reviews, profits of the book fell far below Dickens' expectations, and the financial strain caused rifts between Dickens and the original publisher, Chapman & Hall.
Reseñas
It was interesting to read this story and see what was from Dickens' original text and was part of the many movie adaptations about Scrooge evil ways coming back to haunt him.
