Early facsimile. 274 pages, half leather binding, marbled boards, matching marbled end papers, tooled spine, title and date in gilt on spine, five raised bands, leather corners, good condition, modest shelf wear, bookplate of previous owner on front paste down, limited to 250 copies.
The "illustrations" reprint the documents, poems, and letters referred to in the text from Middle English to Modern English; with brief commentary, and historical perspective.
