Hardcover is full bound in green leather with five raised bands; gilt decorations on panels and bands; gilt ruled borders on covers. Blind-stamped borders on covers inside ruled borders, as well as on inner edges of covers. Edges of covers have gilt stamped borders. All page edges gilt. Light yellow endpapers. Illustration on title page in red. Black and white illustrations; one fold-out plate. Rear hinge partially cracked, but still strong. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with some fraying at tips and spine ends. Spine ends rubbed. Covers have moderate edge wear and surface rubbing with a few nicks in the leather. Leather is in good condition with no deterioration. Typed bookplate on front endpaper. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. One page has a sentence written in pencil in the bottom margin. No other markings on pages. 312 pages. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
