Comparatively unknown, he assumed the leadership of a small church that had been organized with a membership of twenty-one. When, in 1887, he passed away, he had made the names of Henry Ward Beecher and of Plymouth Church known throughout the United States and even across the Atlantic. A Church in History tells the story of one hundred years of service by this historic church.""
