First several pages, up to the end of the "Special Introduction," are loosely bound, but still fully attached. Front top corner is slightly bumped. Spine is a bit tanned. Otherwise clean and tight. A volume in the UNIVERSAL CLASSICS LIBRARY. Landor presents fictional conversations among important figures, ancient and modern, such as Diogenes and Plato, Steele and Addison, and Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Top edge of text block is gilt. Includes one color and one black and white plate. Comes with an unattached notice card from Modern Bookbinding explaining "How to Open a Book" (i.e., without damaging the binding).
