Sobre este artículo

London; New York: Jonathan Cape; Alfred A. Knopf, 1972-1981. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 8.5" by 6". None. A pair of first edition novels by British author Len Deighton. These novels are both first editions, with XPD being the first US edition, published during the same year as the UK edition. Close Up is the first UK edition. XPD is in quarter cloth binding with paper boards with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Close Up has a black full cloth binding with a price-clipped dust wrapper. Len Deighton is a British author known for his novels on espionage and military history. His other works include The Ipcress File, Horse Under Water and Funeral in Berlin. He is also known for writing a number of cookery books. XPD is one of Deighton's spy novels, and is set in 1979, following a group of former SS officers as they plan to seize power in West Germany. Close Up explores a rarely seen theme in Deighton's work, featuring an internationally known, Hollywood actor at a dangerous crossroads in his life. Close Up has the remnants of a booksellers label to the front paste down. Both works are in original publisher's binding, with Close Up in full cloth and XPD in quarter cloth and paper boards. Dust wrapper to Close Up has been clipped but the wrap to XPD remains unclipped. Externally, excellent, with a few light marks to XPD, mainly to the tail near the spine. Some light rubbing to the cloth of XPD. Light offsetting to the endpapers of XPD. Remnants of a bookplate or bookseller's label to the front paste down of Close Up. The odd mark to the fore edge. Dust wrapper smart with chipping to the extremities and the odd tear. Loss to the wrap at the head of the spine on Close Up. Marks to the wrap of XPD, with light chipping and the odd closed tear, mainly to the front top edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
