Sobre este artículo

London, 1910. Hard Cover. (London: Philip Lee Warner 1910). First UK DELUXE EDITION THUS. lvi + 292 pages. Originally published as a first edition in 1669. Engraved portrait frontispiece of Sir Kenelm Digby Knight. Facsimile of the original title page (from 1669) immediately after the introduction. This Deluxe Edition is vellum-bound in cream with elaborate gilt decoration to the spine and front/rear boards. This is a facsimile of a 1669 work. Foyle's ticket to the front paste-down. Foxing (particularly to the early/late pages of the book) which has crept into the text in places. Really clean interior. Minor marks to the Vellum boards. A pleasing copy of an interesting work. "The peculiarity of the book is the number of recipes for making drinks. There are nearly 50 recipes for making meath, and as many for making metheglin, in addition to recipes for hydromel, stepony, bragot, strawberry wine, cock-ale etc. There is a recipe for making tea with eggs and a warning against leaving tea to stand too long. 'The water is to remain upon it no longer than whiles you can say the Miserere Psalm very leisurely'" (Oxford: English Cookery Books to 1850 pages 34-35). At the time of listing this book we can find no copies of the Vellum-bound Deluxe Edition for sale on the web. Photographs/scans available upon request.
