Dorothy L Sayers' second Peter Wimsey mystery was originally titled Clouds of Witness when it was published in England in 1926 However, when this first US edition came out the following year, the title was changed slightly to Clouds of Witnesses All Peter Wimsey first editions are valuable, but this first US is particularly scarce, with no other copies currently available on the internet
It is in very good condition in green cloth with yellow titles on spine and front cover It is ex-lib from The Booklovers Library of Los Angeles, but the only library indications are a library bookplate affixed to the rear pastedown, what appears to be a piece of the original DJ description affixed on the rear endpaper (see photo), an ink date stamp on ffep "Apr '27", and lightly embossed library names on top corners of ffep and title page it has no other library markings and does not appear to have had much use at all Binding is still clean and undamaged, with just very slight shelf wear Text is bright and clean
