Rare hardcover, First Issue without "first edition" statemement. A fine copy [minor printer's ink residue on the bottom of one page] in first issue D/W without the "Winner of the Governor General's Award" printed on the upper cover. The D/W is in very good plus to near fine condition with some foxing to verso and a small scuff to spine. Among the scarcest Ondaatje items. Housed in a handsome clamshell box. The rarity of this title in first issue boards and D/W can be explained by the flood at the publisher around the time of the announcement of Ondaatje's GG win which destroyed "almost all" of the remaining hardcover copies of this book. Sinopsis
Michael Ondaatje is the author of five novels, a memoir, a nonfiction book on film, and ten other books of poetry. The English Patient won, amongst other awards, the Booker Prize; Anil’s Ghost won the Irish Times International Fiction Prize, the Giller Prize, and the Prix Medicis. He lives in Toronto.
