These four volumes are bound in 3/4 leather (spines and cover corners) with marbled covers and endsheets. Volume One: 1850 - 1854, Volume Two: 1854 - 1860, Volume Three: 1860 - 1862, Volume Four: 1862 - 1864. All four volumes are in Very Good Condition. Volume Four contains a pocket inside the back cover containing six maps. Due to the size of this item, expedited or priority shipping prices will be individually quoted. Chicago, Illinois: 1893. A group of eight cabinet cards. Albumen photographs [12 cm x 9.5 cm] on dark brown cardstock mounts [13 cm x 10.5 cm] with pencil annotations on the verso. Photographer unknown. Unique collection of amateur photographic images taken at the World's Columbian Exposition, also known at the Chicago World's Fair, staged in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival in the New World in 1492. Shown in the images are Fisheries Building, Mac Monies Fountain, the Illinois State Buildings, and more. One image shows a sign for an attraction on the Midway. For 10 cents, visitors could see "one girl from every civilized nation in the world." Also included is a genuine Leica IIIA rangefinder camera, made by Ernst Leitz of Wetzlar, Germany, in 1938. The serial number is 278201 and was one of 19,850 made that year. The model IIIA began to be produced in 1935 but was suspended during the War, then resumed until 1948. In design it was identical to the III which had introduced slower shutter speeds, lugs for carrying the camera, and an increased rangefinder magnification to 1.5x. The main addition to the IIIA was the shutter speed of 1/1000th. The lens on this camera, which is collapsible and has a bayonet mount, is the Summar 50 mm, 1:2. It was manufactured between 1933 and 1940, and it has the serial number of 422174. A lens cap is present. The camera is in very good condition, except for the black leather which is split and partially separated from the body. Also, some of the leather around one lug is missing.
