4. ALS "Tom / Kathleen". Los Angeles, Feb. 2, 1987. Sending photo. He is on the way "out to see Earl King," the New Orleans blues musician, composer of "Come On" and "Trick Bag".

PROVENANCE: From the collection of Frank Lauria and Ellen Smith. Ellen Smith was a long-time staffer at Island Records, press agent for Marianne Faithfull; she is credited as Producer's Assistant on Waits's "Frank's Wild Years" (1987) and Associate Producer and Tour Coordinator on "Big Time" (1988).
