Amand Helm was born in 1831 in Teplice (now Czech Republic). His photographic career began in 1861 in Prague. In 1864 he exhibited his landscape photographs and photographs on porcelain at the Vienna Photographic Exhibition. He first published the DONAU-ALBUM in 1868.
