Washington: Government Printing Office, 1910. First edition.. A bright and clean copy in near fine condition.. Pp.399-51; 36 full page black-and-white photo-plates each with tissue-guard legends. Self-Wrappers (an extract from the Bulletin of the Bureau of Fisheries with the back strip solid), sm 4to. Bulletin of the Bureau of Fisheries for 1908, volume 28 (document 667). This paper was presented before the Fourth International Fishery Congress held in Washington, USA, September 22 to 26, 1908. This paper won the prize of $100 in gold for the best presentation. It presents the methods of the sponge fisheries, the influence of such methods on the supply of sponges and the most effective means of conserving the sponge grounds. The 36 photo-plates are beautiful works of art. No ownership marks and no signs of use.
