Philadelphia: J. T. Bowen, 1856. 10 inches by 6 3/4 inches. Original color lithograph with additional hand-coloring. The 2nd royal octavo editon of Audubon's BIRDS OF AMERICA differs from the first edition in one important respect: there is a lithographed color background. That difference is the reason that many collectors prefer the second edition over the first. This lithograph is guaranteed to be more than 170 years old. It is in near fine condition: clean and bright, with only a couple of tiny spots of foxing. Now arcivally matted in a 16" by 12" off-white rag mat and ready to be framed.. Second Octavo Edition.
