Noted on the title page to be: 'Prize Essay No. 2 of the Southern Baptist Sabbath-School Union'. Both the author and the artist who contributed a few images to the book were from Mississippi. Book with light to moderate wear; four pages with dog ears; one pencil mark in the margin. Important book in the evolvement of the Baptist religion in the United States.
