Barbara Kaye and her husband Percy Muir moved in 1938 to a Tudor cottage in north-west Essex, in joyful anticipation of at last having a home to themselves. Whilst she coped with a young daughter, domestic crises, garden and chickens - and tried to write a novel - he commuted to London to carry on his antiquarian book business in Duke Street." Percy Muir (1894 - 1979) was a prominent antiquarian bookseller with the Elkins Matthews firm and author of several books related to book collecting. Barbara Kaye Muir (1908 - 1998) was an English novelist. She and Percy Muir married in 1937. Kaye was also involved in Elkins Matthews. She also wrote several memoirs, including this one.
