Good-VG for Age. 11 cms x 17.5 Cms. xviii+286+(10, contents); prev.owners dated pencilled sig.+ pencilled dealer's notes and single isolated stamped figure '3) all to front endpaper, two tiny early pencil signs top half-title, no further marking, front gutter cracked and open but securre, rear gutter also split but less severely, browning to edges of endpapers and pastedowns offset from adhesive; covers generally clean but extremeties moderately rubbed, both joints cracked consistent with internal gutter damage but remain secure, paenlled spine slightly rubbed, small red label with gilt lettered 'Comparative View' in good condition. A very serviceable copy of this important and pioneering work which adumbrated eugenics concerns etc. of a century later. Major example of Scottish Enlightenment thought.
