From the dust jacket: "Published by The Pittsburgh Bibliophiles, this is the first comprehensive bibliography of Izaak Walton s THE COMPLEAT ANGLER to appear since 1936. It is based on a study of copies in the compiler's personal collection and those at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cambridge, Trinity College, Dublin, and such other repositories as the Library of Congress, the Bodleian Library, and the British Museum. Mr. Horne provides a bibliographical description and supplemental material for each entry, including translations published in other countries. Twenty-eight plates of title-pages and bindings are shown. The four-color frontispiece reproduces Jacob Huysmans' portrait of Walton. In addition to providing corrected entries for the 280 editions and reprints treated in the 1936 bibliography, the book includes new accounts for 20 editions not carried in that work plus 106 editions and reprints published since then. The late Bernard S. Horne, a bibliophile and Izaak Walton scholar, owned the largest known collection of Walton's ANGLER.". First Edition, 500 numbered copies. Hardcover. Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
