Grosset & Dunlap Book. Very Good -. In Slipcase. Small 8vo. Orange cloth hard cover binding in slipcase. Front of the cover is a white cameo of Johann Gutenberg. Opposite the title page is the facsimile of the title page of the first edition of 1653. 237 pp., hinges are tight, clean text, no markings or highlighting, spine faded and light fading of cover edges, attached to the front of the slipcase is a copy of the original title with dark brown on beige background. Slipcase itself is structurally sound but the paper cover is loose on the bottom edge. Spine of book is faded orange and gilt lettering has darkened a bit. The gilt on the front is still bright. (V).
Sinopsis
'The Compleat Angler' is the most famous book ever published in the literature of sport. It is also a work whose unique celebration of the English countryside has attracted readers around the world since it first appeared in 1653. Izaak Walton issued the final version of his beloved book in 1676. 'The Compleat Angler' is both a manual of instruction and a vision of society in harmony with nature. It guides the novice fisherman on how to catch and cook a variety of fish, on how to select and prepare the best bait and make artificial flies, and on the habits of freshwater fish. It promotes angling as a communal activity in which the bonds of friendship are forged through the shared experience of the natural world. Walton lived through turbulent times and found in nature the best salve for national tragedy and personal sorrow. -

We opened our shop in August 1992 in an out-of-the-way, two-block street, hence the name. Shortly afterward we started getting books that were hard to find, so the name fits there, too. We recently closed the shop and are focusing on our online book business, continuing to provide the same customer care. Our specialties include Engineering and Technical, Christian and other religions, Foreign Language, Military History, and music. We also have classics, biographies, history, politics, and science, sports, law, etc. Please call for any information needed. We are in the Central time zone.
