Fine. 12mo. 17cm, 2nd edition, lviii,416p., two engraved frontis portraits, 77 text illustrations, 13 copper-plates notes, in contemporary half dark brown morocco, gilt spine title, marbled boards and endpapers, t.e.g., first frontis portrait foxed, a very good to fine copy (ands) ~ First published in 1823, the John Major edition is the best known of the old editions of the "Angler", this being the second edition of 1824. It was edited by Andrew Lang in 1896 and went through numerous editions. The frontis portraits are by H. Slous (of Walton) and H. Corbould (Cotton). With an extended introductory essay by John Major . An important edition of a much published work.
