Half-calf over marbled boards, spines gilt in compartments, black and red labels (a few of the title labels faded). An excellent set from the library of Louis E. Goodman, with his bookplate. Reade (1814-84) was an English novelist and dramatist. Included in this complete edition of his works is It's Never Too Late to Mend, written with the purpose of reforming abuses in prison discipline and the treatment of criminals. He is best known for The Cloister and the Hearth.
