Joseph Mills Hanson was an author and historian. This book is a narrative of the principal events in the life of Captain Grant Marsh and the history of the American West. Capt. Grant Marsh was a riverboat pilot who navigated the Missouri River. He was noted as "possibly the finest riverboat pilot who ever lived." (Applegate, Roger. "Great Prince Marsh: Legendary Riverboat Captain"). In this book, Hanson presents Marsh's life and provides historical context for his accomplishments.
