Illustrated with nine (9) full-page copperplate engravings by Joseph Nutting. Note: the frontispiece is plate 3 of Nutting's illustrations rather than the portrait of Dunster that should be the frontispiece but is missing. Drexelius was professor of humanities and rhetoric at Augsburg and Dillengen as well as court preacher to the Elector of Bavaria. CONSIDERATIONS ON ETERNITY was probably his most significant book. This translation, which was published in multiple 18th and 19th century editions, is by Samuel Dunster, Prebendary of Sarum & chaplain to Lord Maynard and later Vicar of Rochdale. Recently rebound in dark brown sheepskin, with most of the original beautifully tooled front and back panels laid down, and with new endpapers. Five raised bands with red leather title patch. Pages are lightly tanned at the edges, but generally clean and crisp. A nice copy of a quite scarce theological landmark.. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Very Good. Illus. by Joseph Nutting. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
