The need for Warne's chapter for an American audience was precisely because Combe's scientific vision of man operating in a larger law that he must understand to reach harmony didn't include the Bible. Warne's job was to show that Combe's teachings could include religion as well as science. This edition coincided with Combe's tour of the United States and Canada in 1838. American Imprints 49813.
