Sobre este artículo
This First Edition, First Printing copy of The Contemporary Lithographic Workshop Around the World, by Michael Knigin & Murray Zimiles, was published in 1974 by Van Nostrand Reinhold Company and printed in Japan. It has the ISBN number 0-442-24480-0. The book, which measures approximately 11 inches wide by 14 inches tall by 1 ¼ inches thick, contains 318 pages of text and illustrations devoted to the story of lithograph production. The book is hard bound in red cloth covered boards with black lettering on the spine. A light brown dust jacket, with black lettering and photos of lithographic workshops on the front and rear faces, encloses the book. The dust jacket is further enclosed in a plastic book jacket cover. The book is in fine condition; the dust jacket and it plastic cover show signs of wear and are in very good condition.
Quoting from the dust jacket flap, the book presents "...a broad and illuminating approach to the world of lithography. Although many books have been written about lithography, little or nothing has been written about the people who help and often stimulate the artist in making a lithograph and the ateliers in which they work...this is an intimate glance into the foremost lithographic ateliers of North America and Europe...the book presents more than thirty-five workshops through the words of the directors themselves. It describes procedures followed with artists, with on-the-spot photographs of work in process, and provides, to the artist and non-artist alike, an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a lithographic workshop."
The illustrations accompanying this description show the front face of the dust jacket, the title page, the Table of Contents, and two typical 2-pages spreads of text and illustrations.
