1910 IN GOOD++ CONDITION. Circa 1910? Accordian folding book, measuring 4-1/4 inches tall, by 2 inches wide, with 24 folding panels, depicting 6 hand-painted, ink and watercolor scenes of graphic, erotic sexual positions. The male genitals are not exaggerated, the scenes are depicted unclothed, while laying on rugs, leaves and fabric. The females depicted have unbound hair, sometimes wearing a red ribbon in it. No text on panels. Covers are paper over boards, with Chinese characters on front and back covers. Small corner damp mark, not affecting the images, slight rubbing to edges, occasional light foxing. COLORS ARE STILL VIBRANT.

Nattali and Bond. London. No Date.,Circa 1850. THREE VOLUMES. Tall 8vo (10.2 x 6.6 inches). Text and plates taken from the Ninth edition. Complete set of this famous trilogy, with 80 fine hand-coloured, full page, aquatint plates, the colouring still strong and bright, by Thomas Rowlandson. Some minor spots of foxing to a few leaves in each volume but generally clean and bright copies in the scarce original publisher's brown cloth bindings, with gilt lettering and decoration on spines. Decorative blind stamped panels on boards. Original yellow coated endpapers. Previous owners bookplates to front paste downe endpapers. Some rubbing to top and tail of spines and fore-edges, and a couple of the hinges with neatly repaired splits (about 1.5 inches) but generally these are very good examples. Slight uniform fading to spines but overall a very attractive set of this classic work with Rowlandson's humourous plates. Uncommon in the publishers original decorative cloth bindings.:

Hodder and Stoughton. London. -- No date. 1913. FIRST THOMSON EDITION. 4to.(10.5 x 8.4 inches). 22 mounted colour plates, each with a printed paper guard. A fine and clean copy in an early fine binding of half green morocco. The spine has two raised bands, each with decorative gilt tooling. Tan title label, gilt. Gilt ruled box designs. There is an illustrated multi coloured leather onlay design to the middle of the spine showing a couple walking in the rain, under an umbrella. Blue cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Previous owners colour bookplate to the front paste down. A fine copy in a fine binding. The binding is unsigned but certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

Macmillan & Co. New York. 1889. New edition. 12mo. (7.5 x 5.2 inches). xii, 192, 12 pp publishers catalogue. Also an extra gathering bound in so that pages 117 to 124 appear twice. One gathering slightly sprung. Publishers dark green cloth with gilt and black decorative band across the top of the front board and the top and bottom of the spine. Black decorative roll to the bottom of the front board. Title on gilt to the middle of the front board. Spine lettered and decorated in gilt. Rear board with blind stamped floral roll to the top and bottom. Floral decorative endpapers. Neat two line inscription to the front free endpaper. The rear endpapers have an early previous owner's name and address written in red crayon to the free endpaper and a few short lines to the pastedown. Cloth a bit rubbed to the edges and a couple of small marks to the boards but overall a very good copy. An uncommon and attractive nineteenth century edition, printed in New York by J. J. Fully illustrated with frontis, decorative title page and 218 pages with decorative engraved borders and many with engraved vignettes inside the border, all by Daniel Maclise. A few small marks to a handful of pages but generally a very bright and clean copy throughout. Finely bound in nineteenth century full red morocco. Spine with double raised bands, each with a wide gilt line between them. Compartments ruled, lettered, and fully decorated in gilt. Both boards with double gilt ruled borders and decorative design within. Board edges bevelled. Marbled endpapers. Elaborate gauffered pages edges, gilt. Decorative gilt turn-ins. Armorial bookplate to the front paste down endpaper. Some rubbing and marking to the binding but overall a lovely copy of this beautiful book.

[52] pp. + 4 pp. advertisements. 4to., red and green paper covered boards, front board with color illustration by Wain. Very good, spine with moderate tiny chipping, slightly affecting title. Corners slightly worn. Hinges cracked. B/w advertising pages, 2 or 3 ads to a page, some with illustrations, at front and rear. Tipped-in color frontispiece has a small crease to bottom right corner, not affecting image. A few of the age-toned text pages have small closed tears in the margins, with no loss. text and illustrations printed in sepia, green, or blue. Four color plates in fine condition, with only the frontispiece having the small crease. Mostly cats; one color plate illustrates a lane of promenading dogs. Wain's anthropomorphized creatures are not always sweet or friendly!

[4],267,[1] pp. Bound in full morocco, gilt title and double-rule frames in spine compartments, gilt double-rule borders and inner dentelles, a.e.g. Leather has faded from a deep purple to brown on spine and top-edge of boards. Text and plates are clean and bright despite occasional offsetting from some plates to facing text leaves. Originally published in monthly parts, the original stab-holes are evident in the borders of a few plates. This is Combe's own sequel to his very popular series of "Tours" of Doctor Syntax (published respectively in 1812, 1820 and 1821) which had inspired many parodies and imitations. Like the earlier titles in the series, it too is illustrated by Rowlandson. (CBEL II, 357; Tooley 413).
