Novel of World War II but with a deeper subtext of the leading character's existential crisis which leads him to leave his cushy job in Washington, DC to join the Merchant Marine in 1944. Bluegray cloth with gilt spine lettering and decoration, 272 pages, includes dustjacket. The book is in very good condition with light rubbing to its extremities, sound text block, good hinges, clean pages free from any markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is priceclipped and is in good condition with edgewear including rubbed joints and outer right edge, slightly chipped extreme spine ends and corners. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
