Richard Phillips, 1806. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Fair ; No jackets. 1806 Richard Phillips, London. Three volumes, complete. Bound in full brown leather with speckled surface pattern. Covers have narrow floral gilt borders and gilt tooled edges. Spines have six panels, four with gilt stamped floral ornament. Gilt title on each is on red leather spine label and volume number on black label. Spines have gilts stamped bands which are not raised. All page edges are blue speckled. Black and white frontispiece. Red silk index ribbons in each volume; ribbons are detached but present. Front covers of volumes 1 and 3 are detached but present. All remaining hinges are cracked. Heavy wear on all edges, with loss to gilt edging; boards visible at most corners. Spine labels clear and readable, but leather on the other panels is chipped and worn. Front endpaper of all volumes have two imprinted book plates from previous owners; one bookplate in each volume has the name of Solomon R. Guggenheim. Volume 1 has an additional name in ink on the verso of the front free endpaper and some old bookstore markings in pencil. Front endpaper has small bookshop label from London. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Pages clean and unmarked. There is only very light and sparse foxing to the pages. 334 + 336 + 325 + index pages. No dust jackets. Full imprint: "Printed for Richard Phillips, No 6 Bridge-Street, Blackfriars, 1806, By T. Gillet, Wild-Court" Last page following index is list of "Valuable books recently published by Richard Phillips". Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
