Malone's work here shows his extraordinary insigh into Jefferson well before he began his masterful biography . The book is in excellent condition . The dust jacket shows browning to the spine . The slipcase shows wear to the corners and to the foot of the spine panel . The design and production characteristics of this volume are exceptional , coming from Houghton Mifflin's The Riverside Press at the height of its skills .
