London: Fisher, 1839. Hardcover. Good - condition. Lovely landscape steel engravings after Thomas Allom, of the British country side. Allom (1804-72) was an English architect, artist, and topographical illustrator, noted for his illustrations in travel books, especially those of China.
Large 4to, 76pp, 72 engraved plates (36 leaves with 2 views per plate), complete as listed. Embossed blue gilt cloth. Covers marked and rubbed, ink stain lower front board, spine chipped. Internally, damp stain crescent to top margin, extending into the right corner of later plates; some fox spotting to margins. Period ink owner signature.
