Signed by Sarah Orne Jewett on the front free endpaper, inscribed to Georgianna Perry "with best Christmas wishes" and dated 1896. [vii], 213, [1], [2, ads] pp. Bound in publisher's green cloth beautifully stamped in gilt. Near Fine with light soiling to cloth, a little dulling to spine, offsetting to endpapers. The New England author's best-known work, very uncommon signed. Perry was Jewett's mothers maiden name so Geogianna was likely a cousin.

This was a life-changing read. It is as if it were written specifically for me. The journey was the most uplifting, intriguing, heartwarming, satisfying experience for an avid reader such as myself. The writer is a superb narrator with descriptions beyond compare and character-building skills such as I have never witnessed. Am now reading other authors with similar writing style, (Ruth Moore) as well as others by Jewett. Carol Sullivan
