Paris: Presence Africaine, (1956). First edition of the author's only book. Duocecimo (7.5" x 5.5"), 27 & [2] pages, with frontis portrait. Publisher's printed paper wraps, in original glassine dust jacket. Partially unopened. Text in French.
Moderately soiled, brief edge wear, text browned, otherwise very good.
The author, one of the most promising French West African poets of the Negritude literary movement, died in a plane crash in 1960 at age 33.
Quite uncommon, OCLC locates 8 copies under 5 accession numbers of which two have substantially different pagination. No copies are found in the United States.
