Boston: Boston Book & Art Shop, 1962. 258p., first American edition (so stated) from British plates, high-gloss alkaline paperstock throughout, b&w period photography coordinated with a running text, hardbound in lovely gray buckram boards with blue and silver spine labelling, and an intact, unclipped dust jacket. Book's front free endpaper bears a photographer's ownership stamp, jacket's top edge is worn with tiny losses at the head rim, a generally sound clean copy of a clever approach to the history of photography.
