Sobre este artículo
London: Longman, Brown, Green, Longmans, & Roberts, 1858. Finely bound example of the Critical and Historical Essays of Lord Macaulay. Octavo, three volumes bound in full polished calf with elaborate gilt tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, morocco spine labels lettered in gilt, double gilt ruling to the front and rear panels, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. British historian and Whig politician Thomas Babington Macaulay wrote extensively as an essayist, on contemporary and historical sociopolitical subjects, and as a reviewer. His The History of England was a seminal and paradigmatic example of Whig historiography, and its literary style has remained an object of praise since its publication, including subsequent to the widespread condemnation of its historical contentions which became popular in the 20th century.
