"Apart from a very readable account of the voyage itself and description of the countries visited, the reader is very conscious the whole time of what a fine seaman Muhlhauser must have been. During much of the voyage he was short-handed with indifferent crews whose inexperience gave him very little peace of mind. 'Amaryllis' was an old yawl, built in 1882, of 36 tons T.M. and although she proved herself a magnificent sea-boat her yawl rig proved unsuitable for ocean work. Nevertheless she got her owner there and back again." - from dust-jacket blurb. With advertisments for The Mariners Library Numbers 1 to 14 on reverse side of dust-jacket. Series: The Mariners Library, #10. .
