FIRST ISSUE OF THE BOXED TRILOGY BY FOLIO SOCIETY. The set comprises 'Culloden' (1961; first FS edition 1996), 'The Highland Clearances' (1963; first FS edition 2003), 'Glencoe' (1966; first FS edition 1996). Often termed the Fire and Sword trilogy, this is the author's masterly account of the key event of the Jacobite Rebellion and the destruction of the traditional clan system. THIS THREE-VOLUME SET IN SLIP-CASE IS VERY SCARCE.
Sinopsis
John Prebble was born in the UK in 1915 but spent his boyhood in a predominantly Scottish township in Canada. He became a journalist, turned novelist, film-maker, and historian, specializing in Scottish subject matter. His recent books include Mutiny and John Prebble’s Scotland . He died in January 2001.
