This is the story of a Chinese boy and his beloved water-buffalo, an idyll of Chinese peasant life which gives an intimate picture of the national character and customs. The illustrations include four delicately drawn plates in colour and many drawings by the artist in black & white. Book condition: good. A little edge wear and some light soiling to yellow cloth boards. Internally some light & sporadic spotting - mainly to endpapers. Dust jacket: good & unclipped. Generally rubbed and lightly soiled. Edge wear and chipping to corners. Spine discoloured and somewhat worn with several small holes.
