Slightly bumped at the top right-hand side of the spine, traces of foxing to the top and front edges of the text block, previous owner's name stamp on the front free end page. Illustrated with 32 black-and-white plates. Translated from the original French by James Cameron, the author spent time visiting the pigmy tribes of French Equatorial Africa and lived among them as their friends. The author was determined to produce a full and detailed record of the lives of this extraordinary race of tough, surprisingly friendly little people who survive solely by hunting. Centuries have passed and they have shown no interest whatsoever in becoming herdsman, let alone in growing crops. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 213, (3) pages.
