Florence, Italy.: Giulio Giannini e Son.. Near Fine. 1930. First Edition. Hardcover. 12mo - 17 x 11.5 cm.; xi - [1] - 272 pp. Custom bound with a faux parchment (a heavy rag paper with sizing) over thin boards. Black titling with illuminated lettering on the front with a leather thong tie on the front fore edge and decorative leather stitching (three) on the spine joints. The parchment is evenly age toned though this may have been done deliberately as the overall effect with the illuminated lettering and leather accents is quite pleasing. The interior shows no defects of any note. Of interest and known to me by private sources though unable to document is that this book comes Francis Rich an actress and sculptor of some note who was the daughter of Irene Rich of silent screen fame and a favourite of Will Rogers. One could call this an oddity though I do prefer the term a "thing of some beauty". The book is housed in a lidded card stock box covered with a blue and white fleur-de-lis paper. The box is rather fragile; still sound and usable, but made of light weight material. .
