Hodder & Stoughton, 1970. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Illustrated. List of illustrations, introduction by Russell Drysdale and bibliography. Black coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Before Charles Darwin and Thomas Henry Huxley created the greatest intellectual upheaval in the world in the late 19th century, both of them spent a very uneventful time in colonial Australia. This is a tale of that uneventful time. A little rubbing of the book corners and back strip edges. Minor bumping of the top book corners. Light age toning of the text block edges and pages with offset tanning of the end pages. Creasing of the dustwrapper edges with a 1 inch tear to the top right hand corner of the rear panel. Patchy fading of the front panel and sunning of the back strip. Some marks can be seen to the rear panel. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Dust Jacket price-clipped.
