Large 8vo, handsome half dark green morocco and marbled boards by Tout, raised bands, gilt titles and gilt decorated compartments including gilt clover emblems, gilt top edge, marbled endpapers, 695 pp., illustrated including a frontispiece and an engraved title page (in addition to the letterpress title page), clean unmarked text, Very Good copy, bookplate (of John Monks) on front pastedown, a bit of wear to the tips of the outer pages, age-toning or discoloration to the pages and page-edges, minimal rubbing to the outer joints and corners, lightest wear to the spine-ends. The bookplate of John Monks was probably designed by him; Monks (1850-1917) was a well known painter and etcher in Boston and New York.
